Kayah Li Lay Klo

Culture. Healing. Community.

The Kayah Li Lay Klo: Karenni Heritage Project (KLLK) was a year-long 2024 initiative aimed at addressing mental health challenges within the Karenni refugee community through cultural preservation and art-based activities. The project consisted of seven workshops, including five originally planned workshops and two additional workshops added based on community needs.

A total of 295 participants attended the workshops, where they engaged in traditional crafts, connected with mental health resources, and strengthened intergenerational connections within the community.

These workshops reinforced Karenni cultural identity, increased awareness of mental health, and provided essential healthcare resources. By fostering intergenerational connection and promoting discussions about mental health in a culturally responsive way, the project helped improve access to mental health support while preserving Karenni cultural heritage.
